Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before your first visit — and a few things you might not have thought to ask.
Can't find what you're looking for? We're always happy to help.
-
Absolutely — and you're in good company. Many of our clients come to us with no Pilates experience at all. Whether you're recovering from injury, looking to build strength, or simply want to move better, we'll meet you exactly where you are. Our New to Nutrio page is a great place to start if you're not sure which service is right for you.
-
Not at all. There's no level of fitness or flexibility required before you walk through our door. The equipment and sessions are designed to work with your body as it is today. All you need to do is arrive exactly as you are.
-
All appointments and classes can be booked directly online. You'll need to create an account the first time you book — once verified you can log in and book anytime. Prefer to get in touch first? Email us at hello@nutrio-studio.co.uk or call 01382 520955
-
Yes — all new clients complete a short health form before their first appointment or class. You'll receive this automatically when you book online. It takes just a few minutes and helps us make sure your session is right for you from the very start.
-
Wear something comfortable you can move in — leggings or shorts and a t-shirt work well. For Pilates and yoga, shoes are not worn in the studio so bring a pair of clean socks, grip socks are preferred and available to purchase in the studio. For physiotherapy, make sure you can comfortably access the area being treated.
-
We're at 594 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry, Dundee, DD5 2EA — in the heart of Broughty Ferry, a short distance from the beach. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9am–6pm, Friday 8:30am–12pm, and Saturday 7:30–11:30am.
-
We kindly ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged a fee. We understand that life doesn't always go to plan — if something comes up, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
GETTING STARTED
-
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including back and neck pain, joint pain and stiffness, sports injuries and tendinopathies, post-surgical rehabilitation, persistent and chronic pain, and pre- and postnatal musculoskeletal conditions. If you're unsure whether your condition is something we can help with, just get in touch — we're happy to advise.
-
No — you can book directly with us without a referral. We are a self-referral practice, which means you can get the help you need without waiting for a GP appointment first.
-
Initial appointments are 50 minutes, giving us time for a thorough assessment, hands-on treatment, and the beginning of your rehabilitation plan. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. We'll always let you know what to expect when booking.
-
Your first session includes a detailed discussion of your history and goals, a comprehensive physical assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and the start of a personalised rehabilitation plan. You'll also receive a video home programme — exercises filmed and sent directly to you so you can continue your recovery confidently between sessions.
-
This varies depending on your condition and goals, and we'll give you an honest picture at your initial assessment. Many clients see meaningful progress within three to six sessions. We'll always discuss the plan with you and review it as you progress.
-
Yes — we work with people at all levels of activity, from recreational exercisers to competitive athletes. Whether you're managing a tendinopathy, recovering from a sprain, or returning to sport after surgery, we can help.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
PILATES & YOGA CLASSES
-
Studio Circuit is our small group equipment class, using reformers, Cadillac trapeze table, Wunda chairs, ladder barrel, and fuse ladders — capped at five people in our ground floor studio. Mat Pilates uses no equipment, just carefully sequenced movement to build strength and control, held in our first floor studio overlooking the beach and capped at eight people.
-
That's a completely normal feeling — and one we hear often. Our classes are small by design, the atmosphere is welcoming and unhurried, and our instructors are attentive to every person in the room. Nobody is expected to keep up with anyone else. If you'd prefer to get a feel for the studio first, a 1:1 session is a lovely way to build confidence before joining a group.
-
All group classes and 1:1 Pilates sessions are 50 minutes.
-
New clients can try three classes for £45 — valid for 21 days from your first booking. The offer applies to all mat Pilates, Studio Circuit, and yoga classes and can be mixed and matched across the three.
-
Yes — private one-to-one sessions on the Pilates equipment are available and are a great option if you're new to the equipment, progressing from physiotherapy, or simply prefer a fully personalised session. An introductory offer of 3 sessions for £174 is available for new clients.
-
Yes — our yoga classes are welcoming to all levels and designed to be accessible and unhurried. The focus is on mobility, breath awareness, and steady, sustainable movement that works for real life.
-
Yes — Studio Circuit packs can be redeemed against mat Pilates and yoga classes too, giving you flexibility to mix and match across the timetable.
