Pilates Classes in Broughty Ferry

Three styles of class, six people in each

GROUP CLASSES

Small classes. Personal attention. Real results.

We run three different Pilates classes at the studio on Brook Street — Reformer, Studio Circuits and Mat. They're three kinds of class rather than three levels, so there's nothing to work your way up to and no wrong place to begin.

Every one of them is capped at six and adapted to whoever's in the room that day. If you're not sure which one is for you, that's the usual state of affairs — have a read below, or get in touch and we'll point you at one.

OUR CLASSES

Three classes, and how to tell which one is for you

Each one does a different job. Here's the short version — there's a fuller one on every class's own page.

Reformer Pilates

Everyone on a reformer, moving through the same exercises together, led from the front. The springs carry some of the work with you, which is why it suits people who want to get stronger without having to hold everything up themselves. Foundation, Rhythm, Control and Express are four kinds of class, not four levels.

Studio Circuit

The only class where everyone is doing something different. You work through your own set of exercises across the reformer, trapeze table, chair and ladder barrel, chosen for your body by the physiotherapist who assessed you. It's the most adaptable thing we run — a knee, a back, a new hip, a long time away from exercise.

Mat Pilates

Nothing to learn and nothing to set up, and you're working on the raised platforms rather than down on the floor. It's the easiest door to walk through, and plenty of people never move on from it. Our Postnatal Pilates class is a mat class too, on Friday mornings, with babies welcome.

GROUP CLASS PACKS

5-class pack £105 · £21 per class · valid 3 months

10-class pack £190 · £19 per class · valid 6 months

15-class pack £255 · £17 per class · valid 6 months

One pack covers all three classes. It spends anywhere — a reformer class upstairs on Tuesday, a circuit downstairs on Thursday, a mat class on Saturday — so you can book what suits the week you're actually having. Packs renew when you use your last class, and you can pause or cancel in your account whenever you like.

WHO IT’S FOR

You don't need to be fit, flexible, or experienced. You just need to show up.

One of the most common things we hear from new clients is some version of: "I wasn't sure I was ready." And almost always, within a few sessions, that same person is wondering why they waited so long.

Our group classes are designed for real people with real bodies and real lives. Here's who tends to thrive at Nutrio — and why.

Who teaches the classes

Nutrio is run by Ailsa Bell, an HCPC-registered physiotherapist who's been teaching Pilates since 2015. She trained with Polestar Pilates in Sydney and holds specialist certifications in pre- and postnatal Pilates and neurological rehabilitation. She teaches Studio Circuits, mat and postnatal classes herself.

The reformer classes are taught by Laura and Clare, both certified through Pilates Union UK. Laura is working through the full apparatus programme with Lolita's Legacy, studying under a second-generation teacher trained by Lolita San Miguel. Clare came to us after several years teaching in a larger gym setting.

What that means in the room is that every exercise has a reason behind it rather than being the next thing on a list — and that if something turns out to need more than a modification, there's a physiotherapist in the building.
